China Threat is Not Serious. Philippine Foreign Secretary

China's President Xi Jinping wasn't attempting to spook the Philippines at a current meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte, as indicated by the Southeast Asian country's top negotiator.

In a discourse last Friday, Duterte said Xi had debilitated to go to war with the Philippines after Duterte communicated an aim to bore for oil in the debated South China Sea.

"It is however regular that when you discuss peace and you discuss strife that "war" could conceivably come up," new Philippine Foreign Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano said at a broadcast instructions in Manila on Monday. "My translation of the meeting is that there was no harassing or pushing around."

Since taking force a year ago, Duterte has looked to enhance ties with China while diverting feedback at home that he's neglected to attest Philippine cases to questioned domain. China's claim to more than 80 percent of the South China Sea has kept the Philippines and Vietnam from investigating significant oil and gas stores.

A worldwide court decided last July that China had no memorable rights to assets in waters asserted by the Philippines for a situation brought by Duterte's ancestor Benigno Aquino. Duterte has tried to set the decision aside in his dealings with China, which has disregarded the decision. That position has won Duterte $24 billion in advance and venture promises from China.
